Dr. Michael Gomez, a highly respected dentist in Santa Maria, California, has been providing exceptional dental care to the Central Coast community for decades. Born and raised in Orange, California, Dr. Gomez began his academic journey at the University of California, Irvine, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1978. He then pursued his dental education at the prestigious University of Washington School of Dentistry, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1982. Following graduation, Dr. Gomez served as Staff Dentist and Dental Clinic Director at the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic until 1987, where he gained invaluable experience in patient care and clinical leadership.
In 1987, Dr. Gomez established his private dental practice in Santa Maria, drawn by the area’s natural beauty, welcoming community, and family-oriented atmosphere. As a tribute to the city’s charm, he adopted the Geranium—Santa Maria’s city flower—as a symbol of his dedication to preserving the beauty and spirit of the Santa Maria Valley and the Central Coast.
Dr. Gomez is committed to providing personalized, state-of-the-art dental care to patients of all ages. Over the years, his practice has grown to serve a diverse range of patients and dental needs. He is passionate about staying at the forefront of dental advancements and has pursued extensive continuing education throughout his career. His past studies include advanced training at Spear Education in Scottsdale, Arizona, and The Dawson Academy in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Gomez is also a past member of the local Spear Education Study Club and currently participates in the Seattle Study Club’s local chapter, the 805 Dental Collaborative.
Dr. Gomez’s professional affiliations include the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the Central Coast Dental Society. He is a past member of the Central Coast Dental Society Peer Review Committee, where he contributed to maintaining high standards of care within the dental community.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Gomez is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of dental professionals. He currently serves as an Adjunct Instructor at the Allan Hancock College Dental Assisting Program and is a former Clinical Instructor at the Yakima Valley Community College Dental Hygiene Program.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Gomez is a devoted family man and outdoor enthusiast. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Bertha, their three adult children, and their five grandchildren. An avid cyclist, Dr. Gomez actively participates in the local cycling community, finding joy and rejuvenation while exploring the scenic beauty of the Central Coast. For him, cycling is not only a way to stay active but also an opportunity to connect with others and appreciate the wonders of creation.
